Fluoridation and the Status Quo

Some proponents of fluoridation in Salt Lake and Davis Counties say, in essence, the people voted for fluoridation and therefore the issue is settled and should not be brought up again.

This says, in effect, that the voter should never change his or her mind.  Now, no one in their right mind would ever say that directly. Nevertheless, some have said, “It’s already been voted on,” as a propaganda-type statement against further consideration of the downside of fluoridation.

Avoiding another vote on this subject assumes that the voters were well informed, which they were not, and it also assumes that there is no new, on-going research to consider, which there is.

Note: In spite of public health officials’ assurances of the safety of water fluoridation, ask yourself why the EPA water safety scientists voted unanimously (all 1500 of them) against adding fluoride to the drinking water (and this was after eleven years of careful examination of all of the research finding). Ask yourself why European countries have changed their minds and all but 2 percent of the fluoridated water systems have been removed.
