Fluoridation and Controversy

There are three main areas of controversy regarding water fluoridation:

#1.  Is adding this fluoride chemical to the water effective in reducing dental cavities?

#2.  Since fluoride is a highly toxic chemical, is it safe at 1 ppm in the drinking water?

#3.  Public health officials and various health-related organizations endorse the safety and
effectiveness of adding fluoride to the drinking water.  Can they be wrong?

Controversy #2—Is It Dangerous?
  • Fluoridation is injurious to health!  Fluoridation at 1 ppm takes time to accumulate in the body and impair the functioning of the cells.  The Washington EPA Water Safety Scientists, after 11 years of research, came to an unanimous decision.  Stop water fluoridation!
  • There is now a large number of scientific studies showing the health damage caused by putting this very toxic chemical in the drinking water.

Controversy #3—Can The Endorsements Be Wrong?
Many of us automatically take the word of scientists and doctors, and for good reasons.  In this wonderful high-tech world, there is much to praise.  Nevertheless, we live in a time where there is more and more public examination of the validity or lack thereof of various aspects of medical science.  The question of endorsements and how they came about will be dealt with first, and then the question of effectiveness and health damage will be presented for your consideration.
