Fluoridation - Neurotoxicity and Cancer

True or false: The EPA has focused a lot of attention on chemicals that have neurotoxicity potential.

FALSE: Kaplan and Morris, writing in US News and World Report, June 19, 2000, “Kids at Risk,” stated that between 1989 and 1998 the EPA managed to get neurotoxicity data on only nine pesticides and three industrial chemicals. Their rationale seems to be that the chemical is “Innocent Until Proven Guilty.” As stated elsewhere, the EPA has no long-term chronic studies on the effects of the fluoride in water fluoridation.

Brain Development: In brain development there are a series of complex processes that normally occur in a carefully timed sequence. As cells proliferate and move to their proper place, synapses form and neurotransmitters, etc, develop.

Should it surprise anyone that known or suspected neurotoxicants, and chemicals in general, that are foreign to the body might slow, speed up, or modify any of these processes? NO! Phillip Landrigan of New York 's Mt. Sinai School of Medicine says, “You end up with gaps in the wiring.”

Kaplan and Morris report that there has been a dramatic increase in learning disabilities. One of every six children in America suffers from problems such as autism, aggression, dyslexia, or attention deficit disorder.

Reported cases of autism in California , between 1987 and 1998, rose from 3,864 to 11,995; in New York , the number of children with learning disabilities rose from 132,000 in 1983 to 204,000 in 1996. Without a doubt there is more than one villain causing this. However, research shows that fluoride is one of these.

Cancer: Question—The rate of cancer has gone from 1 in 25 in the early part of the 20 th century to 1 in 3 in the 1990s. There must be a reason (or reasons) for this dramatic change. Was it more people living longer? Changes in diet? Changes in life style? Or Environmental toxins? Which do you think interferes the most with your cells?

In actuality, all of these factors have an impact on your cells. No people in the history of the world have had to cope with the amount of environmental toxins that exist in our modern industrialized societies. Lucky for us, our bodies are marvelously equipped to handle foreign stuff. We have specialized enzymes that disarm foreign, toxic chemicals. This process mostly takes place in the liver.

Like any system, our bodies can become overwhelmed. Only NOW is cutting-edge science beginning to detect the results of the long-term buildup of fluoride in the bodies of people in fluoridated areas. There are more than 500 peer-reviewed studies documenting the adverse effects of fluoridation.
